The classic one-size briefs are the simplest part of the range. Chantelle's current guidance places them around EU 36-44, roughly UK 8-16, with separate Plus one-size styles covering approximately EU 46-52. The fabric should stretch smoothly over the body without a tight ridge at the waist or leg.

If you are at either edge of the size range, choose the silhouette carefully. A high-waisted brief or hipster spreads tension over more fabric than a narrow thong, while a Plus-specific brief is the better choice when the standard one-size fabric feels overstretched rather than comfortably close.

SoftStretch bras use grouped sizing rather than one universal size. The classic padded V-neck bra is offered in broad paired sizes such as XS/S, M/L and XL/2XL, while SoftStretch Power uses S to 2XL. Always use the individual bra size chart because these letters represent groups of bra sizes, not ordinary clothing sizes.

The original padded bras are designed for soft wire-free shaping and flexibility. They can work across a surprisingly wide range of cup volumes, but they should not be treated as identical to a fitted underwired bra. If you want noticeably firmer lift, more centring or greater stability through the back, SoftStretch Power is the stronger option.

SoftStretch looks simple, but the fibre choice is central to how it works. Classic briefs and many original bras use an 80% polyamide/20% elastane knit. That combination creates a lightweight surface with very high stretch and recovery. Briefs add a 100% cotton gusset.

SoftStretch Power is deliberately firmer: its current bra fabric is 65% polyamide and 35% elastane, used in a double layer with 100% polyester cup material. The extra elastane and bonded reinforcement are what allow Power to offer noticeably more lift than the original soft bralettes.

Chantelle recommends hand washing or machine washing at 30°C on a delicate cycle for current SoftStretch pieces. The range is quick drying, but heat can damage elastane and bonded finishes, so air drying remains the safest choice.

• Wash by hand where practical, or use a 30°C delicate machine cycle.
• Use a lingerie bag for bras and other padded pieces.
• Use a mild detergent and avoid bleach or fabric conditioner.
• Do not wring or aggressively stretch bonded edges while wet.
• Reshape padded cups gently after washing.
• Air dry away from tumble dryers, radiators and strong direct heat.
