Start from a well-fitting Anita or UK bra size and the body size you normally wear in swimwear. The measured size is only a guide: Anita itself stresses that the best comfort can only be judged by trying the garment on.

The pocket should hold the breast form fully inside the cup without folding or pulling the neckline away from the chest. The underarm edge should lie smoothly, and the straps should be adjusted for balance rather than tightened simply to hold the prosthesis in place.

Anita uses a single-letter cup progression rather than UK double letters. As a practical conversion, UK DD corresponds to Anita E and UK FF corresponds to Anita H.

For bikini bottoms and non-cup-sized pieces, if waist and hip measurements point to different sizes, Anita advises choosing the larger size.

Anita Care Swimwear uses several technical swim fabrics rather than one universal composition. Representative current one-pieces include 80% nylon and 20% elastane outer fabrics in Dirban and Porto, 73% nylon and 27% elastane in Carini, and a chlorine-resistant 96% polyester, 3% nylon and 1% elastane outer fabric in Genua.

Soft moulded cups on many current styles use 52% polyurethane and 48% polyester, while linings are commonly polyamide/nylon and elastane blends. Selected styles use LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™ fibre, designed to resist loss of shape caused by pool water and sun cream.

Anita's current care guidance for these specialist swimsuits is hand wash, no bleach, no tumble drying, no ironing and no dry cleaning.

• Rinse promptly in fresh water after swimming.
• Remove a breast form before washing the garment.
• Do not wring or twist the cups and pocket openings.
• Dry naturally away from radiators and prolonged direct sunlight.
• Follow the separate care instructions supplied with any breast form.
