Your Empreinte lingerie size is a useful starting point, but do not assume every swimsuit or bikini top will fit identically to your usual bra. Empreinte uses dedicated sizing guidance for each swim shape, and the amount of coverage changes between balconette, halterneck, V-neck and fuller-coverage designs.

For bikini tops, the underband should remain level and secure when wet, the wire should surround the breast tissue and the cup should contain the bust without cutting in or gaping. Fuller busts usually benefit from the more structured underwired shapes rather than choosing a larger dress-sized triangle simply to gain cup room.

For one-piece swimsuits, body length matters as much as bust size. If the body is too short, the suit can pull the cups down or make the straps feel unnecessarily tight; if it is too long, the bust support and tummy-control panels may sit in the wrong place. A fitting is especially useful when moving from separates into a bra-sized swimsuit.

• Choose a balconette bikini top when you want strong lift with a more open, rounded neckline.
• Choose a V-neck or plunging style when you want a lower centre front while retaining structured support.
• Choose a halterneck when you like a more summery neckline and want adjustable support around the neck.
• Choose a high-waisted bikini bottom for more coverage through the waist and lower abdomen.
• Choose a tummy-control one-piece when you want bust support plus reinforced shaping through the front of the body.
• Choose a classic supportive one-piece when bust security matters more than firm body control.

Empreinte swimwear uses technical stretch fabrics chosen to hold their shape in water while remaining comfortable against the body. The exact composition varies substantially by garment. Current examples include Palace high-waisted bottoms at 74% polyamide and 26% elastane, the Palace balconette bikini top at 63% polyamide and 37% elastane, and the Palace tummy-control one-piece at 70% polyamide and 30% elastane. Current Jetset balconette tops use an even higher elastane content at 60% polyamide and 40% elastane.

That higher elastane content is important in supportive swimwear because it provides stretch and recovery around the body. Selected sculpting Palace designs also use Lycra® Beauty fabric, which Empreinte describes as resistant to chlorine, UV exposure and perspiration while contributing to the garment’s sculpting effect. Composition can vary between the top, bottom and one-piece within the same collection, so check the individual product information rather than assuming every style is identical.

Empreinte recommends hand washing swimwear where possible. A protected 30°C delicate machine cycle is permitted for current pieces, but hand washing is gentler on elastane, underwires and decorative finishes. Rinse swimwear promptly after chlorine or salt water, avoid wringing, do not tumble dry, and dry naturally away from direct heat.
