Do not choose Sugar Candy purely from your clothing size. The Basic Bra uses XS to 4XL, but those letters represent groups of bra sizes rather than ordinary dress sizing. Use your current bra size and the Sugar Candy conversion chart as the starting point. The brand’s current wider positioning is for E cup and above, with different Sugar Candy sizes covering multiple band and cup combinations.

The underband should sit flat and reasonably firm around the ribcage. This is essential: the bra is designed so that much of the support comes from the band rather than the shoulder straps. Once the bra is fastened, reach into each cup and pull the internal platform sling upwards so it sits directly beneath the breast, then position the side slings and scoop the breast tissue forwards into the cup.

If the sling is left folded underneath the bust, the bra can feel much less supportive than intended. Once everything is positioned, adjust the straps so they stabilise the cup without taking the full weight of the bust. The nipples should sit roughly centred and face forwards, with the band remaining level rather than climbing up the back.

Sugar Candy’s Basic Bra is made from 90% nylon and 10% elastane and uses Softex, a high-quality microfibre NILIT 6.6 yarn. The brand uses this yarn because it is strong, durable and capable of high stretch recovery. The bra is seamlessly knitted to shape, with ribbed support zones and offcuts reused in the internal sling construction to reduce production waste.

The Basic Bikini Brief uses a different fabric blend: 86% viscose from bamboo, 9% elastane and 5% cotton. This gives the brief a softer, more breathable everyday feel while elastane helps it retain shape. Composition can differ elsewhere in the Sugar Candy range; for example, Posh and Bestie use different fibre blends, so always check the individual garment.

Sugar Candy recommends a cold machine wash in a delicates bag and drying in the shade. Avoid tumble drying and other strong heat because heat can reduce elasticity, encourage shrinkage and fade colour. Fasten hooks before washing and avoid fabric conditioner if possible, as residue can interfere with the performance and recovery of technical stretch fibres.

For gentle hand washing, Soak lingerie wash is a useful option. Use cool water, handle the internal sling and knitted cups gently, and air dry the bra in its natural shape away from direct heat.
